rt-labs offers classes and workshops within EtherCAT. The classes are aimed for developers who either want to get started with EtherCAT for the first time or who wish to gain a deeper understanding for the system.
EtherCAT for Embedded Systems
A two day workshop combining theory with practical developing elements enables the participants to start developing their own projects after having completed the class.
Brief summary of topics covered:
- Introduction to EtherCAT. Get to know the basics of EtherCAT.
- Developing EtherCAT Masters. Learn how to develop EtherCAT Masters using SOEM (Simple Open EtherCAT Master) stack
- Developing EtherCAT Slaves. Learn how to develop EtherCAT Slaves using SOES (Simple Open EtherCAT Slave) stack
- Application Layer
- Data Link Layer
The workshop is hands-on and uses the following tools and hardware:
- rt-collab Workbench
- rt-labs EtherCAT SDK
- Freescale K60 Tower System
- IXXAT EtherCAT Board
By combining important theory with plenty of hands-on exercises, it ensures that attendees leave the course fully ready to develop EtherCAT Masters/Slaves.
rt-labs instructors are all experienced developers who have used EtherCAT technology extensively, and are also extremely familiar with the internal workings of the software components.
Normally a workshop starts with an introduction to EtherCAT and how a EtherCAT system can be used and deployed. Then practical sessions in how to use and integrate SOEM (Simple Open EtherCat Master stack) och SOES (Simple Open EtherCAT Slave stack) follows.
